How to Hire a Social Media Consultant in 2010

by Joe on January 14, 2010

What’s your game plan for hiring a social media or online marketing consultant?

Before you commit the ultimate sin of paying someone who can’t live up to your expectations, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. What do I hope to achieve from my social media strategy?
  2. How will I quantify a successful campaign (site visits/conversions/sales)?
  3. How long am I willing to invest in an outside consultant, and what is my transition strategy from outside to in-house?

No matter who you hire, get it done right the first time. You don’t want hurt feelings on either side, and it’s a shame when a poorly executed plan ruins a tremendous opportunity to start new conversations.
